Weld Type

The SWR is capable of welding out butt and fillet welds. The butt (groove) welds are performed with an open root and subsequent fill and cap passes. The fillet welds are used for slip-on flanges. The machine can weld the inner and outer joints. Choose which type of weld before choosing the diameter and thickness.

Pipe Diameter

The SWR is capable of welding 2 inch to 60 inch diameter pipes. This calculator gives a more limited range for simplicity. Choose the diameters that most closely fit the pipe sizes that go through your shop. If the majority of pipe through your shop does not fit in this calculator, reach out to a Novarc Sales Engineer for a more detailed analysis.

Carbon S40

The SWR is capable of welding out various thicknesses of pipe. S40 is referring to Schedule 40 (or standard wall). This thickness will vary based on the diameter. This calculator gives a more limited range for simplicity. Choose the weight that most closely fits the pipe sizes that go through your shop. If the majority of pipe through your shop does not fit in this calculator, reach out to a Novarc Sales Engineer for a more detailed analysis.

Carbon S80

The SWR is capable of welding out various thicknesses of pipe. S80 is referring to Schedule 80 (or heavy wall). This thickness will vary based on the diameter. This calculator gives a more limited range for simplicity. Choose the weight that most closely fits the pipe sizes that go through your shop. If the majority of pipe through your shop does not fit in this calculator, reach out to a Novarc Sales Engineer for a more detailed analysis.

Number of Carbon Steel Welds per Year

Input the number of carbon steel butt welds and flange welds that you estimate go through the shop. (Total joints on an annual basis.) This table will have a limited amount of diameters and thicknesses - choose the ones that are closest to your throughput. Note: The SWR can weld pipes/flanges 2"-60" with varying thicknesses (S10 to S160). If your range is outside the parameters of this exercise, submit a note under the comment section on the last page and a Novarc Representative can provide you with a Savings Analysis based on your specific pipe ranges.
